Fat Freezing: Why we don’t offer it & our alternative.
Fat freezing is ever-present in the media. Also known as Cryolipolysis, the process was first approved by the FDA in 2010 and became an instant alternative to traditional types of body contouring such as liposuction and similar invasive surgeries. Due to its growing awareness, the costs of these treatments rapidly reduced over the last 10 years, and the availability of the treatments became more widespread. In turn, the ‘quick-fix’ cooling procedure has been in high demand despite the undetermined long-term effects.
There is no disputing that fat freezing works on most areas of the body. The technology has been designed to chill the stubborn pockets of fat to a point that the fat cells crystalize and disintegrate, ultimately leaving the body and slimming down the target areas. Traditionally the results appear visible within 2-3 treatments and multiple applications may be needed to cover an area. The greater number of treatments, the most optimum results.
The issue with fat freezing, however, is that in some cases the fat in the treated area expands and hardens resulting in unnaturally shaped lumps and indentations in the skin. Also known as Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH), these aftereffects are (typically) due to the temperature of the device and the methods used by the practitioners. Although the risk isn’t necessarily imminent with everyone, some patients can be left with permanent skin contortions reflecting the applicator shape, which are only removed through liposuction; therefore negating the reason to try a non-invasive procedure in the first place!

So, what is the difference between Fat Freezing and Ultrasound + Radio Frequency?
